We still get the occasional phone call about sightings, but I doubt he's still in our neighborhood.
We got a call two weeks ago, and Mike & I raced over to the house and pulled into the driveway... my heart sank. This cat was ORANGE! And as we know from my previous postings, Earl is so not. He's BROWN AND BLACK!!! Anyhow, not being rude, we chatted with the lady, who said she'd been feeding this kitty for a week or so, but she was SO malnourished looking, you could see every vertebrae in her back and even her little pelvic bone. Mike had said no more pets, but once we got in the car, we both agreed that the cat would likely get put down by animal control because she was on the brink of death.
So he looked at me and said, "well, you did say you always wanted an orange cat... and this one needs us".
So that's how we have the newest addition to our little family. Lola.
