Junking and antiquing- Part 2

More junking and hunting with mom, here's some more pieces, not as "shabby chic" as the other pieces I posted about in my earlier post. All goodies are from Gina's Junk Thrift & Antique Shop here in Columbus, GA.

I love this desk- the coloring is perfect for my home decor, would be great as a vanity, desk, a sofa console table, even as a "catchall" table near the front door with a basked underneath it for shoes and stuff we want kept out of sight (but there's no place at this house for this piece). I love the roping type detail along the top of the desk.
Pic from Gina's blog- my pics came out atrocious.

And another one with such a cute curve at the front, I love it.

Here's a great sewing table with the original stool (which I would totally recover with some funky bright fabric).

These are two great dressers, perfect in their own right (pics from Gina's blog), but I could totally seen them in a roughed up kelly green (like this sweet baby at knack studios) or turquoise blue.

Oh chairs, I love chairs. Here's two that would be A-MAZ-ING recovered and some new finish.
This one, it would be in my spare bedroom. Just because.

This one has a matching friend next to it. They aren't necessarily a pair, the color of the fabric is slightly different (maybe one sat near a window and faded??). They would be amazing, together, in a lovely corner near my fireplace, with a reading table. Can't you see it? Mike drinking his coffee and I drinking my protein shake? :)

That is all for now. I'll be back soon with more updates on projects and fun goings on!

  1. My mom would love that old lighthouse! She has several of them on her fireplace mantel, and this one would fit right in.

  2. I never seem to come across these treasures. Every piece of junk I find, somehow just stays looking like junk.

  6. i got interested in antiques many yrs ago thru an old boyfriend, we went to auctions, etc. i love antiques. my mother love antiques as well but her furniture was the modern antique-dunbar, which is today very $$$$$, a dining table costs over 100k....not many people are familiar w/ dunbar even the antique dealers in my area which surprises me...you have to be careful when you restore antiques so as not to lessen the value of the piece....i had the dunbar chairs recovered but put the dunbar labels back on them....

  9. It's so much fun to come across a really great buy. They don't make furniture like they used to.We've picked up a beautiful old dresser and a couple of end tables.

  10. I love antiquing! I have my great-grandmother's dresser in my garage right now, it's nothing fancy like the pictures you posted, but it's very special to me. It's just waiting for me to refinish it. Maybe this spring/summer.
