Do It for Dad: Meat Rub

Rub a Dub Dub

No I'm not talking about 3 men in a tub (the thought of that just freaks me out).  I really don't understand some nursery rhymes.  I get that it rhymes, but couldn't it make a little more sense???

The rub I'm referring to is a meat rub that make food taste... oh so good.  If your dad/husband is the one who mans the grill at your house, then give him a rub that will make dinner delicious!

Easy to Make Homemade RUB

Supplies:
  • Rub Recipe (or you can try mine below if you don't have a favorite)
  • Ingredients for Rub
  • Small Plastic Bag
  • Card stock
  • Printer (or you can write by hand if you don't have a working one available)
  • Scotch tape
Here is our favorite recipe if you don't already have one you love:
(I will warn you that my family likes a little bit of kick on their steaks)

plenty of room to write a message to Dad
Back of rub

Rub Ingredients:
  •  1 teaspoon Crushed Red Pepper
  •  1 Tablespoon Ground Peppercorns
  •  1 Tablespoon Dried Minced Onion
  •  1 Tablespoon Dried Parsley (flakes or crushed up)
  •  1 Tablespoon Kosher Salt

Instructions:

  1. Combine Rub ingredients in a bowl

  2. Pour rub mixture into small plastic bag

  3. Fold over top of plastic bag and tape closed so rub will not come out

  4. Print Rub Label onto card stock (or you can write with a pen if you prefer)
-Create your own or download ours here if you used our Rub Recipe

If you download our label there are 3 different pages.  They all have the same rub recipe, but above the recipe (which will be the back side of the label) is different.  Two have room to write a message to dad, while the third option has a large Happy Father's Day image.

  5. Cut label out of card stock and fold just above recipe title

  6. Write message to dad on back of label if you like or you can leave it blank

  7. Tape the rub to your label (or you can staple it on if you prefer)
-I tape it inside the folded label so that you can not see the tape

  8. Do the Happy Dance - You have a gift for Dad!

Disclosure:  Everyone's tastes differ.  My family loves the above rub on steak, however we suggest trying it yourself to make sure that it makes your taste buds sing. 2. That nursery rhyme freaks me out too! A lot of them are really odd. I've never tried a dry rub on steak. It sounds pretty good.
