Summer Survival: Look Local

Summer is Here!

If you have children who are home during the summer then we are the source for you! Stay tuned as Ramblings of Mama will be posting tips and tricks to thrive throughout the next few months as you strive to survive summer!

Today's Tip: Look Local

It is amazing the amount of FREE local programs from activities to award programs.  Many cities have museums with a free admission day of the week/month.  Reading incentive programs can be found in most libraries and even some stores. Also, some stores even offer free Make-it Take-it craft programs.

Always make sure that you call in advance to confirm that the museum/store/library is participating  and that there are not any special circumstances that you are unaware of (ex. sign-up online, military only, certain hours/days).  Also remember that programs sometimes change, so always confirm.  Nothing ruins a day like arriving for a "free" experience with excited children, only to learn that you must pay admission or the program is no longer running at that location.

Keep a schedule:  I keep a list of programs that are appropriate for my family.  On the list I note the days/times it runs, address, phone number, and any notes that may be important.  I glance at my list to assist in planning my week.

So next time you hear, "I'm bored" - think local and take a look at Ramblings of Mama for some fabulous ideas to Survive Summer.
