Shape and Mens Fitness Fitbit Challenge: Week 2

I'd love to thank Hayley for participating in the Fitbit Challenge through Shape and Mens Fitness. Please check out her previous week Fitfluential Fitbit Challenge posts.

This week’s challenge for the Fit Bit Charge was to add 20 minutes to my daily workout to increase my steps. If you look at the leader board you will see a big difference between this week and last week. The Charge is great because you can leave it synched up to your phone by Bluetooth and it will tell you all of your stats. You can go in to the app and see what challenges you get to. That's right. CHALLENGES!

Did you know that you could challenge your friends to a “dual”?

Challenging others has been fantastic. I love a little bit of motivation in the form of a challenge. I have started some rivalry of my own. I am aiming towards beating my Sister in a step count dual (note-she is a nurse, and I have a desk job, she clearly has the upper hand!). I am not a person that really has much time to work out; I have 4 kids under 8, and as any mother will tell you, my children are my work out!

This week I took what I could from week one, and I got outside more. I went to the grocery store just to get in the extra walking, to keep the kids amused, and parked at the end of the parking lot instead of stalking people to get the closest spot to the store (not that I am lazy, but because taking 4 kids to the store requires less time walking and more time being in the store with them). This week was also a short week sort of speaking because of Thanksgiving.

Let me tell you...if you think hosting Thanksgiving dinner is a piece of cake, you are wrong. If you look at my overall steps for each day you can see that I got the most steps in on the day before and Thanksgiving Day. Today, the day after Thanksgiving, I had to get back to work; sadly I did not participate in Black Friday fun. However, I did get two of my girls outside with me and pushed them in the stroller. I took my two yr old and I also added my six yr old to put in extra weight to intensify my workout.

So although I have yet to hit my step count, I am finding ways to increase the intensity of my workouts and get a bit more active.
