Aflac: Help When You Need It

This post is sponsored by Aflac.  I was compensated for writing it, but all opinions are 100% mine.

Nothing is worse than a bad hair day. Except days when you're a parent. Then a day can go from BAD to WORSE. Parents know better than anyone how quickly things can go bad. One small event can derail our lives for days, weeks, or even months. Nevermind life-altering events that offer us little to no chance to recover.

We all have financial commitments---from paying for daycare or school costs, to mortgages, car payments, and more. It can be hard to make things work when something unexpected happens---even if you have a savings. Everyone knows there are certain types of insurance that are essential to protect family assets---home or renters insurance, car insurance, medical insurance, and life insurance. But as you may even know from personal experience, they don’t cover everything. Even if they provide the coverage you need for the most direct costs involved, you’re on your own when it comes to covering your everyday expenses. Which, when your income has been cut drastically or run dry altogether, can leave you in an impossible situation. That’s why there’s Aflac. Get the help you need, when you need it. If you’ve ever had to file a claim with an insurance company, you know that it can take months and months to receive your reimbursement. Something hard for some, and impossible for many, who have no way of covering the costs upfront until they receive their reimbursement. Not with Aflac. You can receive the funds you need for even everyday costs in just one day. Aflac offers insurance for everyday living, so that you don’t have to stress about the “what ifs.”

Know what Aflac isn’t good for? Your hair salon needs. Have no idea what we’re talking about? Just watch the duck. Seriously. You need to see this. If just to crack a smile.

It’ll make you feel better about even your worst hair salon experience. Since you can’t count on them for your hair care needs, here are some hair care tips to keep in mind for hair styling, from us to you!

  • Work with what you’ve got. Rather than try to work the kinks out of hair with lots of body by straightening it, or curling hair that’s naturally straight… work with what you were born with! Hair straighteners and curling irons can do a lot of damage to your hair since they rely on heat to shape your locks. Instead focus on enhancing the natural state of your hair. It will save you time, and keep your hair in great condition. Chances are, you’ll probably find yourself receiving a lot of compliments!
  • Use only as much product as necessary. Your hair will look more natural and effortless if it has a little movement to it, which is hard to achieve if your hair is weighed down and more or less glued in place with product. Experiment with different brands of hair spray and hair gel to find one that suits your needs, and use the most minimal amount possible to keep your hair looking natural and effortless.
  • Keep a hair styling product on hand for any required adjustments throughout the day. Some brands of hair spray or hair gel offer conveniently sized product that is perfect for travel---on a trip or just for the day. Avoid any embarrassing hair mishaps by keeping some with you to touch up your hair if needed during the day.

So, do your hair, do it right. Let Aflac handle the other stuff.

With their great policies and quick payout of cash benefits, it isn’t hard to see why Aflac is the #1 provider for voluntary insurance at the work site in the United States. 1. When I went on leave all the way back in 2011, I could never imagine just how long I would be away from work. I just knew I was sick & being the principal earner in our 5-member household, I had to somehow find a way to fight my illness, recuperate & get back to work PRONTO.

(By the following Monday was not only unrealistic, it was a unattainable goal...) Little did I know my illness would span almost 6 months, half of that inpatient, & the other half reliant on a home health aide.

In that time, ALL my savings went bye bye, and u can guess the rest. I remember feeling so sorry that I did not take advantage of buying coverage when an Aflac rep visited my job just weeks before I became sick!

If I had to do it all over again... Like, I wish I could tell the whole story, that's how bad things got. And could have been prevented, I believe now.

I'm disabled now, but it's one of the things I talk about with my nieces & nephews as they're now entering the workforce & moving away from home. Don't just think about that 401(k), what would happen if you got sick tomorrow? If you're willing to insure ur iPhone against damage & theft, what would happen if your forced medical needs prevented you from paying ur phone bill? Really, what's the greater asset, your health or that phone???
